Helping Guests with Special Needs
Pregnancy:
For safety reasons, guests who are pregnant are not allowed to participate in reindeer sledding, as there is a risk that the sled may tip over (contact us and we can book this person only a farm visit).
Guests with Autism or Similar Needs:
Visitors with autism or similar conditions are welcome, but please let us know beforehand so we take it under consideration when planning the tour. Your family member needs to be able to follow safety instructions or are accompanied by a family member who can supervise and assist throughout the visit. Please note that we use outdoor fireplaces and reindeer are prey animals—loud noises or sudden movements may startle them. We also have a farm dog Pihka who is really excited to meet you!
Most guests with autism have had very positive experiences at our farm, outdoors and animals have a calming effect!
Wheelchair Users:
Families with wheelchair users are warmly welcomed and can visit at a different time than the main group to ensure a smoother and more personalized experience. Please contact us in advance so we can plan a special day for you.
If a wheelchair user wishes to try reindeer sledding, we recommend having a family member ready to assist with lifting or helping them into the sled. However, please note there is always a small risk of the sled tipping over and the most fragile guest shouldn’t participate in this.
We can also visit the reindeer fence but please notice our farm isn’t built in the easiest place. If moving around a snowy farm becomes difficult or you suspect it would be a challenge, we can bring our friendly and calm reindeer close to the hut for interaction.
Both our hut and toilets are wheelchair accessible but we don’t have running water at our farm at all.
